Since I grew up in multimedia journalism, the obvious way to start video storytelling was by doing a news video, because it was the one video type that I was most knowledgeable about.

The time I started getting more serious about using the camera was also the time of massive vaccination efforts in the United States. I was volunteering and helping with the vaccination clinics, and that's when I started producing several videos about the clinics.

Throughout the course of the year, I tried to cover a lot of my campus news stories by video. Such included among others the preparation for an ice storm, insights into a new university convenience store ahead of opening, a lockdown after an act of domestic violence, the $89 million upgrade of Oklahoma City's airport, and the opening of a new eSports arena on campus.

Oftentimes, I worked alone on those projects, combining planning, interviewing, filming, script writing and editing together. This way, I advanced my skills in all of those areas.
